MIDLIFE RECLAIMED COMMUNITY
A calm, grounded online community for midlife women who want to stay well, connected, and true to themselves.
Midlife Reclaimed is a gentle membership space for women who’ve walked through burnout — or felt its pull — and are now ready to live with more steadiness, meaning, and ease. Guided by psychology-trained professional and burnout survivor Shannon A. Swales, the community offers weekly live circles, mindful self-compassionate practices, reflective prompts, and a quiet online space to reconnect with yourself and others.
What makes our Midlife Reclaimed Community so special?
-
Midlife Reclaimed is a calm alternative to spaces that ask you to push harder, optimise, or constantly improve yourself. Here, you’re not expected to perform or achieve — you’re invited simply to pause, reconnect, and be held in a way that feels grounding and real.
-
This community was shaped through lived experience — Shannon’s own journey through burnout — and years of conversations with women who longed for more ease, meaning, and connection in midlife. Everything here reflects what they told us they needed: less noise, less pressure, more steadiness, and more space to breathe.
-
Our weekly live circles form the steady rhythm of the community. They’re not workshops, programs, or lessons — they’re gentle gatherings where you can reflect, settle your nervous system, and experience the quiet strength of being alongside others who understand this season of life.
-
You’re not alone in how you feel. Here, you’re surrounded by women who know what it’s like to carry a lot, care deeply, and move through the world with both tenderness and fatigue. It’s connection without overwhelm — supportive, spacious, and real.
-
There’s no pressure to keep up or show up a certain way. Midlife Reclaimed is about deepening self-connection and sustaining wellbeing in ways that feel nourishing and sustainable. Your presence is enough. Your timing is perfect. Your path is honoured exactly as it is..
Here’s what one of our Midlife Reclaimed Community members shared about the weekly Heart Space gatherings:
“I have loved the cozy chats and connection in these sessions ❤️ Lovely to know I’m not alone navigating the roller coaster that is midlife 😊”
Navigating Midlife With More Ease, Meaning, and Connection — Together
Midlife Reclaimed is a calm, gently guided online community hosted by Shannon A. Swales — a midlife woman, experienced mental health professional, and someone who has personally walked through the complexities of burnout and rebuilding.
Drawing on over two decades of experience in the mental health field, postgraduate training, and her own lived journey, Shannon has created a space where you don’t have to navigate this season alone.
In this community, Shannon shows up not as your therapist, but as a compassionate guide — someone who facilitates reflection, grounding, and connection while honouring your autonomy and pace. Her role here is to hold space, offer gentle structure, and support you in staying connected to yourself.
This community is for women who are ready to stay well, reconnect with what matters, and move through midlife with more spaciousness, steadiness, and self-compassion — in an environment that is supportive, stigma-free, and grounded in gentle growth.
.What You’ll Find Inside
The Heart Space (Weekly Support Circles)
The Heart Space is the steady rhythm of our community — a weekly gathering where you can pause, reconnect, and settle into yourself.
These circles aren’t workshops or lessons; they’re gentle, guided spaces where you can arrive as you are and be held in quiet connection with others.
Each circle includes:
a mindful arrival and grounding practice
a reflective theme, prompt, or quote
optional sharing — or simply listening in stillness
a soft closing to help you return to your day with steadiness
There’s never any pressure to speak or contribute. Your presence is always enough.
Currently held on Mondays at 1 pm AEST (45–60 minutes).
Additional session times will be added as the community grows. These circles are not recorded to protect privacy and presence.
The Couch (Ongoing Connection Space)
Between live circles, The Couch offers a relaxed, private space for quiet connection and gentle conversation.
Here, you can:
respond to weekly conversational prompts
share what’s on your mind or heart
witness others’ journeys
connect without urgency or expectation
Whether you engage often, occasionally, or simply observe — there is room for you.
The Reflective Corner (Journaling & Inner Inquiry)
A dedicated space for guided journaling prompts and deeper reflection.
The Reflective Corner invites you to:
slow down and listen inward
explore gentle self-inquiry
write privately or share selectively
reconnect with what matters most
These weekly prompts deepen your self-awareness and help sustain grounded wellbeing.
The Library (Our Resource Hub)
The Library is a carefully curated collection of resources to support ongoing wellbeing and self-connection.
Organised into accessible sections, you’ll find:
Resources
• Knowledge & Insights
• Practices
• Book Club
• Podcasts & Blog Picks
Everything is arranged so you can explore at your own pace, in your own way — no pressure to keep up, just what you need, when you need it.
The Welcome & Feedback Corner
A soft place to begin — and a space where your voice is always welcome.
Introduce yourself if you feel called, get your bearings, and offer feedback at any time.
This is a co-created community, shaped by the women who gather here.

Who Created This Space?
Hi, I’m Shannon A. Swales — your host, guide, and fellow traveller in midlife.
I’m an experienced mental health professional with over two decades working in emotional wellbeing across a range of settings. I also know, personally, what it’s like to reach the edges of burnout in midlife — and to rebuild with more steadiness, spaciousness, and self-trust.
But inside Midlife Reclaimed, I’m not here as your therapist/psychologist. I show up as a facilitator, compassionate guide — someone who holds space for reflection, offers gentle practices, and helps you stay connected to what matters, at a pace that feels right for you.
My approach is grounded in evidence-informed practices (like ACT, CFT, mindfulness self-compassion work) — but even more so, it’s grounded in humanity, warmth, and lived understanding.
I’m also the author of Nothing Left to Give and host of the Midlife Reclaimed Podcast, where I explore the real conversations midlife women are hungry for: meaning, identity, burnout, compassion, and living well.
This community grew from my own turning point — a moment where I recognised I didn’t want to just recover from burnout… I wanted to live differently. More gently. More intentionally. More connected to myself and others.
Midlife Reclaimed is the space I wish I’d had during that time — a calm, supportive community for women who aren’t in crisis, but who want to stay grounded, centred, and true to themselves in this season of life.
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
Let’s walk this path together — softly, and with purpose.

Benefits of Being Part of Midlife Reclaimed
Feel Less Alone in Midlife
Midlife can be a profoundly tender and complex season. Here, you’re surrounded by women who understand its depth — the responsibility, the invisible load, the quiet longing for more ease and meaning. You don’t have to hold it all on your own.
Strengthen Your Self-Connection
Through gentle reflection, weekly circles, and regular check-ins, you’ll stay connected to yourself — your needs, your values, your inner knowing. This is a space to keep coming home to who you are.
Create Breathing Room for Your Nervous System
The mindful and self-compassionate grounding practices and soft structure of our gatherings help you slow down, settle, and create pockets of calm in the midst of real life. It’s not about perfection — it’s about relief.
Move from Overwhelm to Steadiness
Midlife Reclaimed isn’t about fixing or striving. It’s about supporting you to live with more clarity, presence, and self-trust — so you can navigate this season from steadiness rather than survival.
Grow with Guidance, Not Pressure
You’ll be supported by an experienced mental health professional who shows up here as your guide, not your therapist — offering insight, reflection, and gentle facilitation without the pressure to perform or achieve.
Honour Rest Without Guilt
Rest isn’t a luxury or a reward — it’s part of staying well. In this space, rest and slowness are encouraged, normalised, and seen as essential parts of sustainable wellbeing.
Be Understood Without Having to Explain
You don’t have to justify your stress, your fatigue, or your desire for something gentler. The women here get it. Your experiences are met with compassion, not comparison.
Move at Your Own Rhythm
There’s no program to complete and no finish line to reach. This community honours your pace — whether you show up weekly, occasionally, or simply through reading and reflecting.
Access Insight Without Overwhelm
Resources are offered in thoughtful, spacious ways — digestible, supportive, and designed to meet you where you are. You’ll receive guidance that respects your capacity, not drains it.

It’s designed to support presence and connection, rather than instruction or performance. Often, a midlife theme will emerge (e.g., mental load, perfectionism, menopause) that everyone or most will benefit from.
