MIDLIFE RECLAIMED COMMUNITY

A gentle, grounded online community for women navigating the emotional, psychological and identity shifts of midlife — together.

Midlife can bring change, questioning and a growing sense that something within you is asking for your attention.

Midlife Reclaimed is a place to connect, reflect and explore what you need, what matters to you now, and how you want to live this next season of your life — alongside other women who get it.

Guided by Clinical Psychologist and fellow midlife woman Shannon A. Swales, this is a community where you can have real conversations, make space for yourself, and access thoughtful, evidence-informed support when you need it.

There is nothing to keep up with here.

Come as you are. Join in when it supports you. Step back when life is full. Everything here is an invitation, never another thing you should be doing.

What makes Midlife Reclaimed different?

A place to belong, not another thing to keep up with.

What Women Say…

Here’s what one Midlife Reclaimed member shared about her experience of connection within the community:

“I have loved the cosy chats and connection in these sessions ❤️ Lovely to know I’m not alone navigating the roller coaster that is midlife 😊”

Navigating Midlife — Together

Midlife can bring changes and questions that touch many parts of our lives — our identities, relationships, work, bodies, needs, priorities and sense of what matters now.

Midlife Reclaimed is a gently guided online community created and hosted by Shannon A. Swales — Clinical Psychologist, author and fellow midlife woman.

Drawing on more than two decades of professional experience alongside her own lived experience of midlife burnout, change and finding her way back to herself, Shannon has created a space where women can explore this season of life in the company of others.

Within the community, Shannon is not your therapist. She is your guide and facilitator — creating opportunities for meaningful conversation, reflection, mindful self-compassion, learning and connection while honouring your autonomy and your own way of navigating midlife.

You don’t have to have midlife figured out. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

What You’ll Find Inside

The Heart Space — Weekly Live Gatherings

The Heart Space is the heartbeat of our community — a weekly place to pause, arrive and connect with yourself and other women.

We begin with a guided mindful self-compassion practice before opening the space for conversation, reflection and whatever women might be bringing with them that week.

Come to share, ask a question, hear another perspective, laugh, reflect or simply listen.

There is never any pressure to speak. Your presence is enough.

Mondays at 1 pm AEST (60 minutes).
Heart Space gatherings are not recorded to protect the privacy of those attending.

The Couch — Ongoing Connection

Our relaxed community conversation space between live gatherings.

Drop in to respond to a conversation, share something from your own midlife, ask a question, celebrate something, connect with another woman — or simply read along.

Come and go in whatever way works for you.

The Reflective Corner

A weekly invitation to pause and become curious about your own experience.

Shannon shares a question or reflection that you might journal with, bring into conversation, quietly contemplate or simply carry with you.

There is nothing to complete and no right way to engage.

The Library — Support When You Need It

A growing collection of evidence-informed teachings, guided mindful self-compassion practices and trusted resources, alongside podcasts, blogs and books that may support you through different aspects of midlife.

Our quarterly live teachings and previous teaching recordings also live here.

There is no library to work your way through. Explore something when it speaks to you and leave the rest for another time.

The Welcome & Feedback Corner

A gentle place to begin, introduce yourself if you’d like, find your way around and share feedback.

Midlife Reclaimed continues to evolve with the women who gather here, and your voice is welcome.

Who Created This Space?

Hi, I’m Shannon A. Swales — Clinical Psychologist, author, podcaster, community guide and fellow midlife woman.

For more than two decades, I’ve worked alongside people navigating the emotional and psychological complexities of being human. My work is also deeply shaped by my own experience of burnout in early midlife — a turning point that led me to question how I had been living and begin finding my way back to myself.

I didn't simply want to recover and return to the life I had before.

I wanted to live differently.

With greater self-compassion. More connection to what mattered to me. More willingness to listen to my own needs, values and inner knowing.

That experience became part of the seed from which Midlife Reclaimed grew.

Within this community, I’m not your psychologist or therapist. I’m your guide and facilitator — holding space for meaningful conversation, reflection, connection and learning while respecting that your midlife belongs to you.

My approach is informed by psychological science and evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). But just as importantly, I bring warmth, curiosity, compassion and my own humanity to this space.

I’m also the author of Nothing Left to Give: A Psychologist’s Path Back from Burnout and host of the Midlife Reclaimed Podcast, where I continue exploring the questions, experiences and conversations that arise through midlife.

I haven't figured midlife out.

I'm living it too.

And I believe there is something powerful about having other women alongside us as we do.

What You Might Find Here

Feel Less Alone in Midlife

There is something powerful about being with women who understand this season because they are living it too. Through honest conversation, shared experience, laughter, reflection and support, you’re reminded that you don’t have to navigate midlife alone.

Deepen Your Connection with Yourself

Midlife can invite us to listen differently. Through conversation, reflection and mindful self-compassion, you’ll have opportunities to become curious about your needs, values, voice and what matters to you now.

Make Space for the Real Experience of Midlife

This is a place for more than information about what happens in midlife. We make room for the emotional, psychological and identity experiences too — the changes, questions, losses, possibilities, relationships, work, bodies, meaning and who we are becoming.

Explore What You Might Want to Reclaim

Your needs. Your voice. Your values. Your self-trust. Rest. Joy. Meaning. Parts of yourself that may have become quieter while you were busy being everything to everyone else.

There is no prescribed version of what reclamation should look like. You get to discover what it means for you.

Belong Without Having to Keep Up

There is no program to complete and no finish line to reach. Come often or occasionally. Share or listen. Explore a resource or leave it untouched.

Your way of being part of this community is allowed to change with what life asks of you.
